Dar es Salaam, 22^nd October 2025:

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has issued a statement regarding the presence and progress of Severe Tropical Storm “CHENGE,” which is currently in the Indian Ocean, in the north-eastern part of Madagascar, approximately 2,400 kilometers East of the Mtwara coast.

The Severe Tropical Storm “CHENGE” began its development in the eastern part of the Indian Ocean on 17^th of October, 2025 and continued strengthening with time.

Analysis of weather patterns indicate that the Severe Tropical Storm “CHENGE” is expected to move further west across the Indian Ocean towards the coast of our country over the next four to five days (between 26^th and 27^th October, 2025), while weakening.

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority continues to monitor the progress of the Severe Tropical Storm “CHENGE” and its impact on the country’s weather systems and will provide updates whenever necessary and as appropriate.
