  • 18th PDT meeting

    On 4th April 2019, The Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS), Tanzania Project Delivery Team (PDT) held its 18th meeting at TMA HQ, Ubungo Plaza , Dar es Salaam. The main aim of the meeting was to deliberate on the progress in the implementation of project activities.

    During the meeting, the Director General of Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA), Dr. Agnes Kijazi, used the opportunity to express her appreciation for partners’ support and effort in the implementation of GFCS leading to successfully preparation and launching of the Tanzania-National Framework for Climate Services (NFCS).

    I appreciate for your efforts and contribution leading to the publication and launching of the NFCS, and thank you for the commitment and efforts you are putting in ensuring that GFCS APA Phase II is successfully implemented. I urge you to consider the deliberation on the implementation of NFCS as an important agenda in every PDT meeting’ said Dr. Kijazi

    Further more, Dr. Kijazi and Dr. Ladislaus Chang’a (the PDT-Chairperson), presented copies of NFCS to invited participants which includes representative of the Development partners: World Bank (WB) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Participants from the Vice President Office (VPO) and President Offices’-Regional,Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) were also presented with copies of NFCS as part of efforts to enhance understanding and accelerate implementation of the NFCS.

    The PDT received and deliberated on quarterly progress reports on the implementation of GFCS APA phase II from Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS), Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA), World Food Programme (WFP) and Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC), and update from GFCS technical advisor from GPSC meeting agenda held on 23 January 2019. In general the implementation of the GFCS APA Phase II activities is progressing well.

    During meeting, Ms. Jacquelene Tesha, the GFCS senior Technical Advisor, who has been deployed by the Norwegian Refugee Council’s (NORCAP) to provide technical support in the implementation of GFCS programme in Tanzania was introduced to the PDT. All members promised to provide support to Jacquelene.

    PDT is responsible for monitoring progress on programme activities, planning and implementing joint activities, which normally meets quarterly and consists of participants from Tanzania Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Vice President Office (VPO), Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC), Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), World Health Organization (WHO), World Food Program (WFP-TZ), Tanzania RedCross Society (TRCS) and Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA).
